Directions for the University Development
The University puts special emphasis on the development of the following eight aspects: teaching quality, academic research, student affairs, continuing education, administration, campus environment, internationalization, and relations with alumni and others. The details are as follows:
  1. Teaching Quality
    1. Diversifying the intake of students and attracting students with potential;
    2. Improving teaching quality and students’ competitiveness;
    3. Enhancing students’ learning effectiveness and English fluency;
    4. Conducting teaching assessment, adopting a flexible salary policy, and performance management and incentives;
    5. Encouraging active participation in teaching;
    6. Building an excellent environment for academic, social and cultural development.
  2. Academic Research
    1. Building up a good research environment;
    2. Making effective use of University's facilities;
    3. Commercialising academic research;
    4. Publishing research results;
    5. Cooperating with local and international research teams;
    6. Providing first class services to support research activities.
  3. Student Affairs
    1. Building a quality learning and living environment;
    2. Cultivating core values and a unique university culture
    3. Providing a holistic education
    4. Optimising the efficiency of student management.
  4. Continuing Education Services
    1. Enhancing cooperation between the University and industry;
    2. Promoting cultural and social education services;
    3. Providing courses for performing arts, preserving the historical buildings and objects held by the University; Promoting continuing education;
    4. Offering information technology services;
    5. Providing comprehensive medical services to the public.
  5. Administration
    1. Increasing administration efficiency;
    2. Establishing a University-wide information technology integration platform;
    3. Expanding the functions of the news centre;
    4. Managing human resources more effectively;
    5. Improving the financial and accounting systems;
    6. Restructuring the University as a legal entity to improve efficiency.
  6. Campus Environment
    1. Setting directions for the campus development;
    2. Providing sufficient space for teaching, research and accommodation ;
    3. Building an environmentally friendly campus;
    4. Enhancing public safety facilities for a safer campus;
    5. Digitalizing the campus for increased administrative efficiency.
  7. Internationalization
    1. Promoting academic exchanges and international cooperation;
    2. Recruiting international students and academics;
    3. Adopting regulations and measures to encourage internationalization;
    4. Building an international environment;
    5. Providing accommodation for international students and academics;
    6. Offering information and courses in English and holding international conferences;
    7. Providing better services and management for international students and academic staff;
    8. Assisting international students to improve their Chinese proficiency.
  8. Relations with Alumni and Others
    1. Frequently updating the alumni database;
    2. Providing technological services and consultations for alumni;
    3. Building up social resources by engaging in various activities.
